Three points come up often in your questions: the domain name, backups, and the scope of support. Here is what a SwissCenter hosting package includes, and what remains your responsibility.
The domain name
Unless otherwise specified, the domain name is not included in hosting plans. It is up to you to register it, and then point its DNS to us.
Customers with an older contract, from plans that no longer exist, keep the terms they subscribed to. See Does my hosting include the domain name?
Backups
Your hosting keeps restore points that you can browse and restore yourself from the console, without opening a ticket. The dates offered in the console are the only ones that can be restored: if the date you want is not listed, it is no longer available in self-service, and you can contact our support with the domain name, the path of the file or folder and the date you want. Backups of your MySQL databases are kept for 7 days.
We recommend keeping your own backups outside of the hosting, especially before any major change: CMS update, migration, PHP version change.
The procedure to restore: Restore data — and for databases, Restore a database.
The scope of support
Our technical support covers the hosting service: servers, email, services we operate, and the management console.
It does not cover the content or code of your site: we do not intervene in your pages, scripts, or the internal configuration of your CMS. Development and design are separate professions — see Can SwissCenter help me design my website?
If you are unsure about the origin of a problem, open a ticket: we will tell you if the cause lies on our side or in your application, and what to look at.
And my current contract?
The terms of your subscription remain those you subscribed to as long as you do not request a plan change. To change hosting type or cancel, see Change plan or cancel my hosting.
