Have you received an email titled "ICANN ERRP for the domain…" about your domain name? Do not worry: this is a routine, generic and preventive email.
In short: this routine reminder, required by ICANN for generic domains (.com, .net, .org), asks nothing more of you: a domain registered through our services is renewed automatically, you only need to pay the renewal invoice.
What does this email look like?
The message is written in French, German and English. Here is the English part (excerpt):
Subject: ICANN ERRP for the domain [your_domain.name]
Dear [Last Name First Name], You are receiving this message as a reminder regarding the expiration of your domain [your_domain.name] under the ICANN Expired Registration Recovery Policy http://www.icann.org/en/resources/registrars/consensus-policies/errp. According to our data, the current registration period for your domain ends on: [date] Your domain name registration can still be renewed in accordance with the contractual terms of your service provider. If you wish to renew your domain, please visit your service provider's website for more information and ensure that your payments are made on time.
Why do you receive this email?
The ERRP is an ICANN rule that requires registrars to remind the holder of a domain of its expiry date. It applies to generic domains (.com, .net, .org, etc.), not to .ch and .li domains.
If your domain name was registered through our services, it will be automatically renewed until cancellation, abandonment of the domain name, or in the event of a confirmed non-payment of your invoice. You have nothing more to do than pay the renewal invoice.
If in doubt
This reminder must not be confused with solicitations that imitate a renewal: an email asking you to pay for your domain to a company you do not know, or offering to "reserve" your name in another country, has nothing to do with SwissCenter. Do not pay anything from such a message: instead, check the status and renewal date of your domain in your console, and pay your invoices from your SwissCenter customer area.
