Google, like other search engines, is not instantly aware of all the new websites created on the web. It will eventually index yours by following links from other websites that point to it, but you can save time by reporting it to Google yourself.
In short: add your website in Google Search Console (a free service), prove that you own it, then submit your sitemap or request indexing of your homepage. Allow several days, or even a few weeks; SwissCenter does not handle SEO.
What to know before you start
- SwissCenter does not handle SEO for its clients and cannot assist you with these efforts. For professional SEO, contact a specialized company.
- Indexing a new website takes time: allow several days, or even a few weeks, before it appears in the results.
How do I report my website to Google?
Google no longer offers a URL submission form: everything goes through Google Search Console, a free service.
- Sign in to Google Search Console with a Google account.
- Add your website (a "property") and prove that you own it by following the proposed method, for example a DNS record or a file to place on your website.
- Submit your website's map (sitemap file), if your CMS produces one, or request indexing of your homepage with the URL inspection tool.
How do I improve my indexing?
- Load time matters: Google takes the speed of your pages into account. Make sure to optimize it, for example with a cache plugin on WordPress.
- HTTPS is favoured by search engines: serve your website over HTTPS.
