Question
How can you create limited access (FTP account and database) for a webmaster without sharing your Apanel management console credentials?
Answer
It is not recommended to share the access codes for the Apanel management console with a webmaster: this would give them access to your other websites, email boxes, and your entire hosting environment.
We recommend instead creating an FTP account and access to the specific database only. These accesses can then be deleted once the work is completed.
Steps to create an FTP access:
-
Log in to your Apanel management console and click on the relevant domain name.
-
Click on the FTP manager

-
Click on "Add".
-
Choose the target directory (usually the directory named after the site).
-
Create a username and a password.
-
Use the "Select and copy" button to automatically copy the password to the clipboard and paste it directly into your documentation.
Steps to create database access:
- Click on the database manager

then on the relevant database.
- Enable the remote mysql service:

- Note the connection information displayed as well as the database name (screenshots are provided for guidance only; use the actual values from your console):

- Go to user management:

-
Click on "add", fill out the form and save.
-
We recommend using the provided password generator:

Use "Select and copy" again to retrieve the password.
Transmitting information to your webmaster:
FTP Account:
- Created username
- Created password
- Host name: as displayed under "temporary domain name", removing the leading numbers:

MySQL Account:
- Created username
- Created password
- Database connection information (database name, host, etc.)
Your webmaster will then be able to work on your files and your database without access to the rest of your hosting. Do not forget to delete these accesses once the interventions are finished.
Prerequisites
- Access to the Apanel management console (main credentials)
- Domain name configured in Apanel
- MySQL database for the relevant site
